When a business records a sale, e-Receipts gives the customer a receipt as a link. The receipt shows what was sold, what was paid and whether the sale is still valid.

The receipt proves where it came from.
Open an e-Receipt and the system confirms that it was issued by the named business.
If the business later cancels the sale, the receipt does not disappear. It is marked as cancelled.

A paper receipt is printed on thermal paper, handed over and usually thrown away within the day. An e-Receipt is a link, so nothing is printed at all.
